My Experience Looking For A Child Care Centre: Answering 5 FAQs

Looking for a child care centre can be difficult for first-time parents and those unfamiliar with the steps to take. Things may seem overwhelming, such as having two seemingly identical options you cannot choose from or wanting to trust a learning centre that suits your child. 

The goal is to answer the questions parents ask about finding a childcare centre in Singapore or knowing the features that make one the best. I will share my personal experiences to help everyone understand things better and overcome a few challenges. 

QUESTION #1: WHERE DO I START? 

Starting is easy, and you can begin by having a problem you wish to solve or a goal you want to achieve. In my case, I wanted my child to follow the prescribed age to start education, so I immediately looked for a learning centre the moment they reached the minimum age. On top of that, I explored many options to expose myself to how these facilities work, the red flags to avoid, and other relevant information.

Many people can give you what you need, such as your friends who are also parents, teachers with whom you have built a relationship, and anyone else who knows a thing or two about education and child development. QUESTION #3: IS IT POSSIBLE TO LOOK ONLINE? 

Yes! In fact, that is what I did during the first few days of this journey because I did not want to waste my time and energy going out. I used my preferred search engine to look for a child care centre near my home or workplace and read blogs & articles to learn more. Try exploring the online world if you wish to explore and learn about education and childcare in the comfort of your home. 

QUESTION #4: DO FACILITIES OFFER FINANCIAL GRANTS? 

Yes and no. Some facilities might offer an infant care subsidy if you are eligible or meet a few criteria. Others might have a private business that does not have anything for clients with limited financial means. However, you have many options, so never worry about getting snubbed or not wanting to push through because of the potential expenses of your child. 

QUESTION #5: ARE TEACHERS STRICT? 

Yes and no. First, these people have deadlines to catch and goals to achieve, such as making sure children get to the finish line and learn more things. However, they also practise fairness and compassion when due. You can expect them to offer a helping hand to the child and understand if they are struggling.
